Oscar Hofman

International Lecturer: Oscar Hofman

Oscar Hofman is a classical astrologer from The Netherlands (born in Amsterdam, just before the big eclipse in Aquarius in 1962), where he has his practice, in the city of Gorinchem, just under sea-level. Neither academic philosophy nor the unbearable lightness of modern astrology could ever satisfy his appetite for something real – until he discovered classical astrology. He studied with John Frawley in London and completed the horary and natal courses.

In The Netherlands he is one of the editors of the Dutch-language magazine Anima Astrologiae and he writes columns in several astro magazines around the globe (South Africa, Australia, UK, Germany, India). In his international school for traditional astrology he teaches three e-mail courses in classical horary, medical and natal astrology which are available in four languages Dutch, English, German and French.

Although he practises all the branches of our art, his special interest is medical astrology. Regenerating this very practical and extremely useful form of astrology – including the traditional treatments of purging and blood-letting, which he will not demonstrate at the conference, is one of his great passions. Another special interest is the spiritual interpretation of the chart, which shows the all-important life of the soul, or better the gates to the soul. Oscar travels widely to teach and has students and clients in many countries.

The English translation of his book on classical medical astrology - the first publication in this field since 1677 which really shows you “how to do it” appeared with The Wessex Astrologer last year.
