These terms and conditions of membership are in addition to those contained in the Memorandum of Association of the group:

  • The membership year begins on 1 March of each year and ends on 28 (29) February of the following year in line with the SA tax year.
  • New membership is confirmed within one week of payment and subscriptions are payable annually in advance.
  • Membership fees are revised periodically and members will be notified via email.
  • Terms and conditions of membership, in addition to those contained in the Memorandum of Association of the group, may be revised from time to time and members will be notified via email.
  • Subscription payments not received within 1 week of falling due will result in the membership being considered lapsed and all services may be suspended pending payment.
  • No refund will be made on resignation for subscription payments received or if the members' subscription is terminated by the board for whatever reason.
  • AORTA respects your privacy. Any details that you provide through which we can identify you will only be used by AORTA to communicate with you and will not be passed on to any third party.
  • You agree that links to third party web sites are not under the control of AORTA. AORTA is not responsible for the content of these sites and only provides these links for your convenience.
  • We reserve the right to make changes to these terms and conditions and will notify you of any changes by email giving at least seven days' notice.
  • Conference/Workshop cancellations: The deadline for requests for refunds is 1 month prior to the conference although refunds for extenuating circumstances, such as illness, will be given consideration at any point prior to the conference and are at the discretion of AORTA. All conference cancellations will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
  • AORTA reserves the right to cancel any workshop or conference should we not receive the minimum number of delegates required for the event. We will notify those who have registered and paid within 48 hours of cancelling the event and this cancellation will be within one week before the event. All monies received will be refunded within 2 weeks of cancellation.
  • All members will be required to contribute to the growth and success of AORTA and members will be asked to contribute articles to The Chamber for publication as well as to present informative and well researched topics at workshops.
  • All members residing in Johannesburg, South Africa, will be expected to attend the one-day workshops which will be held twice a year. It is noted that AORTA is a group for mature professionals and adopts the values and mindset congruent with a group of that nature.
  • Members will refer any external communications and media queries to the director where such shared information will impact on the group as a whole.
  • Members agree to abide by the Code of Ethics of AORTA and accept that if their conduct at any stage contravenes that Code or negates the essence of AORTA, that their membership will be terminated.
  • Members who are not astrologers or who practice a discipline different to that of The Tradition agree that they will not be invited to submit articles to The Chamber nor will they be invited to lecture at workshops. AORTA is solely for the growth and promotion of astrology of The Tradition.
  • Astrologers of The Tradition who submit articles for publication to The Chamber and who present lectures automatically grant their permission to AORTA to promote their articles and lecture content to other groups and media publications both locally and internationally.
  • Members agree that the Terms and Conditions and the Code of Ethics of the group are binding and agree to adhere to the principles of AORTA at all times.
