Welcome

AORTA was established to address two primary areas: to meet the requirements of astrologers of the Tradition and to promote this discipline of astrology to the media and public. Methodologies vary between the different astrological disciplines; astrologers of the Tradition require a foundation through which they can learn about their own methodologies and interact with colleagues who share the same technical and philosophical principles. Within the public and media arenas, the perception of astrology and its credible practitioners needs to change; AORTA addresses this utilising the solid framework provided by the Tradition. An Astrological Misconception: Astrology is a forgotten language
      Written by Jacqueline Brook

Image Courtesy of www.OldBookArt.comIt is thought that modern man is completely removed from the traditional astrological realm, yet our language indicates otherwise.

Many of the aphorisms we use today in common speech are derived from astrological language: if we could invest time in pondering the origin of these words and their true meaning, we could begin to reclaim the understanding of the cosmos and its hidden beauty, which is able to assist us with our daily lives and relationships.

It is most enjoyable to think about the origin of phrases and to find the planetary signatures for them: what is said in jest about a person is often a profound truth which can be found in their birth chart.

For September I have focused only on planetary movement in relation to South Africa’s nativity: this month’s theme is financial prudence.

      1, 2

Moon in Gemini: air sign - flower day, barren, waning.

      • During the Moon’s transit through barren signs it is best to do general maintenance of hard landscaping areas as well as weeding and pest control.

      3, 4

Moon in Cancer: water sign - leaf day, fertile, waning.

      • Harvest herb leaves for drying and preserving.
      • Fertilizing during the waning phase will increase absorption and make it available for the plant during the next waxing phase.
      • Mow the lawn and prune plants to decrease growth.

      AORTA Conference 2010
      Written by Jacqueline Brook
      Saturday, 06 June 2009 01:08

The first AORTA Conference (2010) was a resounding success. Delegates benefited from a wealth of knowledge provided by Oscar Hofman (Netherlands), Jacqueline Brook (South Africa) and Louis van Aswegen (South Africa), with some of the information making its public appearance for the first time.

The strong medical theme flowed through the 4 days, with delegates realising that all methodologies, signatures and interventions could be applied to any facet of life. Oscar Hofman was welcomed in true South African style and he was as gracious and generous in sharing his thoughts.
